Clinical Lead, Acute Hospital at Home, Oxford University Hospitals
Professor of Acute Ambulatory Care, University of Warwick
Past President of the UK Hospital at Home Society
Pioneer of the Hospital at Home model in the UK
Prof. Daniel Lasserson is a passionate advocate of the Hospital at Home model, an innovative alternative to traditional hospital care.
He runs a Hospital at Home service in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and is a past president of the UK Hospital at Home Society.
In his presentation, Professor Daniel Lasserson will explain the concept and clinical evidence for providing acute medical care at home. Thanks to advances in diagnostic and monitoring technologies, it is now possible for many patients to be assessed and treated outside of hospital, if they so wish.
Drawing on his recent research at Warwick University Medical School and clinical cases he has managed, Prof. Lasserson will show how patients with more complex acute medical problems can benefit from a personalised care pathway while receiving essential care directly at home.
