Philippe will speak in the session Engaging a population in movement, where he will present an approach centered on living environments and the use of active design. Through practical examples and real-world experiences, he will illustrate how the design of public spaces can become a powerful lever to encourage movement in everyday life.
Co-founder & Director at bloomUp
Philippe Furrer is the co-founder and director of bloomUp. Passionate about sport, which he sees as both a school of life and a catalyst for change in the lives of young people and within communities, he dedicated most of his career to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where he held various executive positions in media operations, knowledge transfer, branding and identity, education, sustainability, and legacy.
With a diverse academic background in geosciences, literature, sports science, management, and sustainable finance, Philippe positions himself today as an activist for movement and an architect of well-being. He relies on an interdisciplinary approach as a way to address today’s complex social and environmental challenges.
Throughout his various mandates, he has worked in social entrepreneurship through sport, urban planning, the development of public policies that encourage popular sports practices, and youth development.
Philippe is the founder of several non-profit organizations active in youth sports, supporting young athletes, combating physical inactivity, and promoting the integration of young migrants through sport.
Since 2023, he has co-led the development and implementation of SPARK, an urban and social lab project aimed at (re)connecting young people with the joy and benefits of regular, playful, and inclusive physical activity.
He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of GAME, an international NGO active in urban sports and cultures, established more than 20 years ago in Denmark and now present in about ten other countries.
