His speech at the conference

Guillaume will open the conference with a keynote entitled “Sedentariness Under the Microscope: Between Myths, Science, and Levers for Action.” He will address the public health urgency of sedentariness, deconstruct common misconceptions, and provide concrete scientific insights to place movement back at the heart of public health.

Professor of Exercise Physiology, Director of the Interuniversity Laboratory of Human Movement Biology

Guillaume Millet is a physiologist specializing in exercise science, Professor at Jean Monnet University in Saint-Etienne, France, and Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
He led a research group on neuromuscular fatigue for five years at the University of Calgary in Canada before returning to France, where he headed the Interuniversity Laboratory of Human Movement Biology (130 researchers and physicians), the ActiFS Chair (Physical Activity, Fatigue and Health), the PATHS Graduate School, and the Regional Institute of Sports Medicine and Engineering.

Author of more than 330 scientific papers and six reference books on physiology and endurance training, his research aims to better understand the physiological, neurophysiological, and biomechanical mechanisms of fatigue, both in extreme conditions (ultra-endurance, altitude) and in clinical contexts (aging, neuromuscular diseases, cancer, intensive care).

A former ultra-trail runner (three times in the top six at the UTMB), he now combines his scientific and field expertise in original projects such as EvaLife and 0 to 100, which supports around forty volunteers transitioning from total sedentarity to becoming ultra-trail runners. Both experimental and societal, this project aims to demonstrate that physical activity is a powerful tool for health.
