His intervention at the conference
Dr. Burrus will speak on the “Healing Through Movement” panel, providing his clinical perspective on integrating physical activity into musculoskeletal rehabilitation and sharing insights from both practice and research at the CRR.
Deputy Physician in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Clinique romande de réadaptation (Suva)
Cyrille Burrus is a deputy physician in the musculoskeletal rehabilitation department at the Clinique Romande de Réadaptation (CRR) in Sion, where he has been practicing for over a decade. Holding a federal medical diploma from the University of Geneva, he specialized in physical and rehabilitation medicine (FMH).
His clinical journey led him to work in leading rehabilitation centers, including the functional rehabilitation service at Hôpital Cochin in Paris, where he participated in major clinical trials on refractory low back pain and adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder.
Outside his clinical work, Dr. Burrus is deeply involved in research on various themes, including:
- Validation of clinical tools, such as the translation and adaptation of the Hand Function Sort and the INTERMED Self-Assessment.
- Pain mechanisms and signatures, including chronic pain patterns like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and prognostic factors in shoulder conditions.
- Discrepancies between patient perception and objective measurements during functional assessments, linked to fear-avoidance models and activity patterns.
- Biopsychosocial complexity and its impact on follow-up study participation, particularly considering socio-economic, linguistic, and psychological factors.
- Return to work, especially how perceived physical demands and social support influence reintegration.
Dr. Burrus actively contributes to advancing rehabilitation practices by systematically integrating biomedical, psychological, and social dimensions.
